Weaved Coasters

I’m into paper these days. There is a lot of different things to make, so this ought to be fun. I start today with weaved coasters, which can be made from magazines, comic books, book pages or any other form of paper that is not too thin.

1. You’ll need a pair of scissors, 3-4 sheets of paper and a glue stick. 2. Start with cutting 12 strips (1 cm /0.4 in. wide) and 4 strips (0.7 cm/0.28 in.) 3. Fold all of the strips. 4. Start weaving the strips together, and to keep them in place, add a little bit glue where the strips overlap each other. 5. Weave until you have right sized square. 6. Cut of all the ends. 7-8. Glue the four remaining strips on each side of the square and you’re done!

Hi, Erlend. I really enjoy reading your entries. You make such fun craft i couldn’t help but pin (almost) all of them!
I once made paper coasters at my art class before. Not weaved, though. Our teacher suggested that we lightly coat the entire coaster with water-glue mixture to give it a glossy finish and so the craft won’t tear or be destroyed. I think the same technique would apply to your coaster, too! Well, just maybe.

Thanks for sharing 🙂 Have a wonderful life!
