Vinyl Coasters

Old vinyl records (that are to scratched up to be played) can be used to make a lot of different things. Here I´ve made coasters by cutting out the colored center piece. To make it easy to cut, put the vinyl in an oven for five minutes at 90°C/194°F. Use a pair of scissors and cut while record is still warm.

Hi-tried and was wondering what kind of scissor you used? I am going to try a rotary one and a former meat cutter. What kind did you use?
    Thanks, Chris

Hi Chris. I used a plain pair of scissors, and cut inside the oven. Had to cut in two turns. A former meat cutter would probably make it easier 😉

  3. Love this idea! Gotta make a quick run to a thrift store for some old records! Thanks for the tutorial.

Hi! Did you seal the coasters with anything to waterproof them?? Thanks!

Hi Sarah! No, I did not. But that is a great idea, for example Mod Podge 🙂
