DIY Personalized Bookmarks

I made personalized bookmarks for members of my family for Christmas. It is a fun way to make them something special that they’ll use.

Now, I’ve printed the bookmarks out on college notebook backs and simply made the layout in Apache Open Office (AOO). I’ve used the text box-feature, which you’ll get by clicking the “T” you find at the bottom left of the window as shown on the screenshot below.

First at the top I’ve written the first letter of the recipients’ name. Below I’ve inserted a QR-code. The QR-code is in this case an URL to the nearest public library’s website. There are several good QR-code generators out there, just pull a google search. Download the QR-code image and use the insert picture from file-function in AOO. “God bok” is Norwegian and means something like “happy reading”. At the bottom of the bookmarks I’ve inserted a picture or written a suitable sentence. At the end I’ve inserted a text box without fill but with a frame.

Well, this was the last post in 2012 – Happy New Year!
