DIY Christmas Movie Gift

Give away your favorite Christmas movies in a homemade case made from thin recycled cardboard and kraft paper! I made this gift for a couple of friends last Christmas and I’m excited to share this with you guys. Okay, lets see how I did it.

Supplies: Two backs of college notebooks, kraft paper, a glue stick, multi purpose glue, a utility knife, a pair of scissors, hemp strings or twine, a copying machine, two blank DVDs, a computer with a DVD copy software (e.g. DVD Backup or Clone DVD),and of course your two favorite Christmas movies.

1. Start out with the backs of two college notebooks. 2. Cut out a rectangular piece from the cardboard approximately 15×30 cm / 5.9×11.8 in, this will be the cover.  Now bend the cover so that you’ll get two squares a little smaller than the two parts on the rectangular. Then cut so that one side on each square is round.3. Bend the cover on the middle. 4. Use a utility knife to cut out the opening, this is where the disc will be inserted, so be sure that it is big enough. 5. Glue each of the rounded squares on the cover, use the multi purpose glue. Be sure that you only put glue on the round side of the opening and a little bit along the other three sides. 6. Copy the DVD cover inlay from the movies of your choice and (7.) glue them on the side of each pocket. I copied the inlays directly on brown paper. 8. Keep pressure on the double DVD with a couple of heavy books. 9. When you have inserted the DVDs then there is only one thing left: tie a christmas loop with the hemp strings and write a greeting on the front. You’re done!

There are many steps to follow in this DIY, and so that you’ll do it all right you might want to check out the video I made last year while making the Double DVD gift.
